The first Uavtape was produced to accompany the 3rd Uavhengig zine. The very first Cabinet releases were on this tape along with early Fontaine home recordings. Samurai (later to perform as Kid Dark Orchestra) also appeared. Every tape had a different sleeve design- the result of projection and photography by James Ockelford. |

This tape accompanied the Uavhengig 4 / Aluminaut zine (by the wonderful Abigail Skerrey). A collection of work by Electroscope, Yellow 6, Schengen, Fontaine, The Oedipus, Gnac, Joseph and Cabinet. A book of artwork accompanied the tape printed on newsprint and black cartridge paper.

Fontaine : Wellman Songs

The Fontaine album -Wellman Songs was recorded in January 2000 by Richard Formby (Spaceman 3 / Mogwai) and features Alex Nielson (Scatter), Daniel Green (Cabinet) and Rob Cunningham (Semi-Squared). Wellman Songs is a late night instrumental affair, mixing Pajo-esque guitars with amongst other things singing cymbals and the shipping news. Still sounds fresh and relevant.

After months of long distance discussions the whole band had not even met each other but performances were already in the pipeline. The birth of automatic music. CDs flew between Leeds and Birmingham containing organic noise, pulsing rhythms, double bass and swelling guitars. These interchanges established an understanding which would facilitate the live performance. Accompanied by red projections, various samples, spontaneous singing and solid percussion BAFSIOF played their first gig 02 12 05 in Birmingham. This release is a document of the project so far and includes a recording from that first performance**. |
